DAY 1: CUSCO | LARES – HUACAWASI

After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel and leave in the morning from the city of Cusco through the Sacred Valley passing through Pisac and Calca where we will stop for 25 minutes to visit the local market and do some shopping.

We continue the journey until we reach 4,265 meters above sea level (13,992 FASL); From this point you can see the mountains of Sawasiray and Pitusiray. Then we descend to the tropical valley until we reach 3207 masl / 10521 FASL.

We will visit the geothermal waters with temperatures of 38, 40 degrees Celsius, then we will have a delicious lunch and start our adventure until we reach Huacawasi (3600 masl – 11811 FASL) passing through houses of adobe and straw, you can also see llamas and alpacas and shepherd children.

DAY 2: HUACAWASI | ARURAYOQ – MANTANAY

After breakfast, we leave our camp ascending to Aruraycocha (at 4,500 masl / 14,763 FASL), the highest point of the trek. From here we have an impressive view of the entire valley and Lake Aruraycocha. We enter the Mantanay conservation area, where we will see the Q’euñas tree of the Incas found along the road near the lake, we will enjoy an abundant and delicious lunch.

You will be able to observe different types of birds: the Royal Churrete, the blue tails flanked by red, and the quenual birds. We then continue descending through a wooded area towards the second camp located at 3,800 masl / 12,467 FASL.

DAY 3: MANTANAY | YANAHUARA – OLLANTAYTAMBO – HOT WATERS

After breakfast, we prepare for the last part of the trek to the town of Yanahuara, located at 2,950 masl / 9,678 FASL. A pretty town with a warm climate located in the Urubumba Valley, part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Place where large grain white corn is grown, we will have a last lunch with our staff. We continue in a van to Ollantaytambo, this ancient Inca town is considered one of the most important living museums in the world. We take the train to Aguas Calientes where we will spend one night in a hotel.

DAY 4: HOT WATERS | MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Today we reach the long-awaited end of our trek, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site – Machu Picchu! After breakfast we will go up to Machu Picchu (a bus trip is optional for $12.00) and enter the Royal Citadel of the Incas. Here we will have a 2-hour guided tour through this incredible ancient city to visit terraces, temples, palaces, priests’ houses, the sundial, the industrial sector and the cultivated fields.

After this tour, you can climb up to Huayna Picchu (2 hours) or Machu Picchu Mountain (3 hours) (be sure to book in advance to get tickets for these!). Optional visit to the Puerta del Sol, main entrance of the Inca Trail, also to the famous Inca Bridge. We go down to the town of Aguas Calientes at the scheduled time of departure of the train. There will be transportation waiting for you in Ollantaytambo to take you back to Cusco.
